How to Find Every Live Sport on Apollo

The Complete Sports Category Guide

Updated May 2026 — covers the new curated sports section, all sports category dropdowns, search shortcuts, and the temporary Sportsnet workaround.

Sports Categories

What Changed

Apollo Group TV recently rebuilt its sports section into a curated category system. Instead of scrolling endlessly through channel lists, you can now jump directly to the category that holds your game. The catch: it’s not obvious where the new dropdown lives, and a few categories overlap. With playoff season in full swing — and Sportsnet temporarily offline at the source — knowing this menu is the difference between watching the game and missing it.

Where to Find the Category Dropdown

  1. Open the app and go to Live TV (or the TV Guide).
  2. Look at the top-right corner of the screen.
  3. You’ll see a dropdown labeled “All Channels” by default. That’s the one.
  4. Click it — every category appears as a selectable filter.

Pro Search Tips

Search by team name

From the search bar, type the team — “Twins,” “Maple Leafs,” “Lakers.” The search pulls every event feed, channel, and on-demand item connected to that team into one screen. This is the fastest emergency move when you can’t find a game in the categories.

Search by city

Regional feeds are often labeled by city (“US LOCAL TORONTO,” “MINNESOTA TWINS US (MLB) MIN”). Searching the city surfaces multiple feed options for the same game.

About the Sportsnet Outage

Sportsnet — Canada’s primary sports broadcaster — is temporarily offline due to an upstream feed issue, and its channels have been removed from the lineup while that’s resolved. The provider has confirmed this is being actively worked on. The timing is genuinely brutal with playoffs running, and we hear that loud and clear from the inbox.

In the meantime, Canadian playoff coverage is reachable through:

  • TSN 1–5 (under Mainstream Sports Networks) — carrying NHL playoff coverage.
  • CBC (under Mainstream Sports Networks) — select playoff games.
  • Major League Sports (Events) — direct NHL feeds, usually with multiple options per game.
  • Multi-Sport Event Streaming — for any regional broadcasts.

The Canadian commentary on Sportsnet is genuinely worth waiting for, and we know that’s what a lot of you actually want. We’ll update the Updates & Support page the moment it’s fully restored.

What If Live TV Looks Completely Down?

If every category is empty — not just one game missing — that’s almost always a local network problem, not a service problem. Live TV and on-demand have been consistently stable through the recent 2.5.1 release.

Run through this in order:

  1. Try a VPN. Many ISPs throttle or outright block streaming traffic in the evenings. A reliable VPN clears this up immediately. See our VPN guide.
  2. Clear the Cache. This will also fix, if icons are not highlighting, good to do 1 every two weeks. Go to the SETTINGS > CLEAR CACHE > OK > Click Sign in again.
  3. Check your other streaming apps. If Netflix and YouTube are also slow, it’s confirmed local network — not Apollo.

App Version

The current stable release is 2.5.1 (April). It includes stability improvements and ongoing network compatibility work tied to the kind of upstream-feed issue currently affecting Sportsnet. If you’re on an older build, update through your usual installer.
