Detect a Flagged Connection & The Faster Guaranteed Fix
Seeing a “Playback Error,” or finding that Live TV and On-Demand won’t load? Since March 2025, most Canadian internet providers have been blocking these connections.
The fix is our essential VPN guide, which completely restores your service. Plus, our newly updated VPN recommendation is 11.8% faster, ensuring the best possible experience.
(Note: The only unaffected provider is Starlink, as its connection is external to Canadian infrastructure.)
How to Check if Your Connection is Being Slowed Down
Not sure if this is happening to you? It’s easy to check inside the app.
1. Open Apollo Group TV and go to Settings (the gear icon on the left menu).
2. Scroll down and select “Launch Speed Test.”
3. Choose the “Detailed Test” option.
The “Launch Speed Test” feature allows users to test network speed and identify any connectivity issues within the Apollo TV app.

Look for these tell-tale signs:
- The “Live TV Server” download speed is 0.00 Mbit/s or extremely low. (under 5 mbps) (avg speed is 35-50mbps; minimal rec is 20mbps)
- You experience constant buffering on live channels.
- A subtle sign: Certain channels (often sports networks) won’t load, while other live channels do. This means your connection is being partially blocked.
Flagged speed test result indicating interference with Live TV and On Demand streams.
